THE BIG FLY IN

COMPETITION CATEGORIES & TARGETS

Sets of instructions on how people get involved. This page will also serve to shed more light on how the event will be run and what competitions will be take place on the different days of the meet.

Realising that there will be a lot of people involved at different levels of this event; I believe it is important to have different award categories. The competition will be judged on points for an overall winner, and any team member that shines out over and above the rest will also be in line for a win.

The main aim of this competition is to:

1: (A)To bomb a target, to score points.

(B)Drop gliders of to recreate the landings at Pegasus Bridge.

2: This will involve flying across the English Channel, then flying to the target and then bombing it.

3: To bomb a target and get as close as possible to a designated aiming point for maximum score.

4: Best presented team (this will be divided into model planes, microlights, team dress, and overall winners).

5: Then there will be team efforts of squadrons of bombers, bombing a target or targets - we are looking in to have targets that could be fired at with rockets.

6:Suggestions: please, on how ground crew should compete.

THE MAIN EVENT WILL INVOLVE FLYING SCALE PLANES TO A TARGET AND BOMBING IT

BOMBES

Here are some examples of bombes.

Each plain of each squadron flying over a target will have different color paint in its bombes and will be scored individually as a plane. There will be over all squadron winners as well for each target as well as over all winners and over all squadron winners.

A minimum flying speed and height, will be set for bombers on there bomb runs on the day, depending on weather conditions and other factors.

Bombers will drop their bombes as squadrons, in other words all the bombers will drop their bombes in one or two swoops over the target.

COMPETITION STANDARDS.

 EXAMPLE-

BOMBS:
EACH BOMB MUST CONTAIN A MIMIMUM OF 1 SPLAT BALLS (PAINT BALL COMBAT). BOMBS MUST ALSO BE IN SCALE WITH THE MODELS AND HAVE THE SAME NUMBER OF BOMBS AS THE ORIGINAL PLANE TYPE.

TARGETS

What you see below is a typical target. This will be laid out on a field, some kilometres away from the take of airfield. The dimensions here are a guide and will be sized in a manner as to make for good competition.

The colors indicate scoring, ie: read 30 points yellow 20 and green 10, Brown would be -10 as this would be some thing that should not be bombed ie: civilians.
