HISTORY OF THIS EVENT
In the early 1980's, there were two modeling clubs in South Africa that
used to fly 96 km (the distance between each other), while piloting their planes from the back of pick-up trucks. The planes
carried loads of extra fuel, but they still needed refuling stops to converse this great distance. The trip took a full day
to complete. Although there was no bombing and only one of the planes was a scale model, it still became a fun and popular
event.
Now we hope to take this great idea further. With the help of the internet we should, in a couple of years,
develop our own successful event. In the meantime, if we could get a half a dozen planes across the Channel we could workout
some of the teething problems, while having a really fantastic time and getting into the world record books as a first!
